Sunspots 05/26/16

We helped the Radio Jove group, another project within the STEM Student Union, to erect four ~23' poles with antennas to detect and record radio waves emitting from the sun.

Suncast Shed has been completed.

Assembling Suncast Shed 05/24/16

We went downstairs to the Bergen Community College basement to pick up the Suncast Shed, and mounted it on a pick-up truck for transportation.
This is a reservoir that will hold cooking oil and then convert it to electrical energy. It will be stored inside of the Suncast Shed.

This is the designated location for the Suncast Shed.

Before getting started, we opened up the package and organized all of the materials needed for the construction of the Suncast Shed.
We begin with the base and build the walls around it. We used a rubber hammer to secure the walls with the pins provided.
After building the foundation, we started on the roof and windows.

Summer 2016! 05/23/16

With the end of the Spring semester, the Blockhouse project is set back into motion with old and new members alike.

The Blockhouse is now a functional workshop where STEM students store project equipment and work. It has come a long way, however, there is still plenty of work to do.

Goals for the Summer

  • Fix Door Leak

When it rains, water rolls down the east door and leaks into the Blockhouse.
  • Adjust Drain

New asphalt was added by the garage door, raising the ground level; as a result, a puddle of water floods the area and obstruct productivity.
  • Install Window

We had installed a temporary air conditioner to keep the crew cool during the last summer. This air conditioner will be replaced by a glass window.
